Our Facilities
Weald Rise Primary School Facilities for our children
Weald Rise Primary School is always adapting to the needs of our children and we strive to give them the very best that we can.
Our school is newly built to a very high specification and throughout the school there is an excellent range of equipment and facilities available to engage and support the children’s learning.
The school has many laptops and iPads that are used on a daily basis by each class from Reception up to Year 6. Our teachers make effective use of digital technology to enhance lessons and learning. In addition, there is a well-equipped dedicated ICT suite.
The hall is multi-functional and is used for PE, assemblies, drama and music concerts. It is also used as a dining room at lunch time where the children can enjoy a fresh meal cooked on the premises by our catering company.
Our purpose built sensory room is a quiet space dedicated to stimulating, developing and relaxing the senses. This gives pupils the freedom and autonomy to explore the environment for themselves in their own time, using all of their senses. Our Sensory Room design includes low lighting, mirrors, fibre optics and bubble tubes. There is a soft play area with a ball pond and quiet areas to sit.
Musical activities covering a wide range of styles and cultures are also made available to our children. We have a dedicated music teacher and two well-resourced music studios with opportunities for children to learn musical instruments. We are proud be part of the Wigmore Hall, Partner School programme co-creating a programme of opportunities to ensure that the children are able to explore a wide range of culturally diverse music experiences including performance.
Our well-equipped Food Technology facilities give the children the flexibility to analyse, prepare and cook food as well as learn about topics such as diet, nutrition and healthy eating.
Our extensive grounds offer excellent opportunities for a wide range of sporting activities including specialist coaching of Cricket. Whilst there is no current legislation around safe PE changing practices in primary schools, in line with recommended guidance from NSPCC we have separate PE changing rooms to remove any anxiety some children might feel when getting changed for PE.
Children need to remain active throughout the day; and our newly refurbished EYFS outdoor learning environment is a wonderful place to learn. Promoting outdoor play allows them to get fresh air and further explore their environment. Hands-on learning, the natural environment and the outdoors stimulate children's senses through what they hear, touch, see and feel.
